The Executive Board of the Touchdown Club of Arlington has unanimously voted to award the 2024 Tommy Yewcic Award for service to the youth of Arlington to Ed Woods.

Ed graduated from Arlington Catholic High School and Boston State College, now part of UMass Boston. He excelled at basketball and was Captain on various championship teams at every level from CYO to College, including a 1971 Catholic Central League title and a State College title and #3 National Ranking at Boston State. He is a 2020 Arlington Rotary Club Community Person of the Year, and a Hall of Fame member of St. Agnes, Arlington Catholic HS, and CYO Sports. He is also an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Ed and his wife, Dawn, have eight children as well as ten grandchildren. Ed has devoted his entire life in service to our youth as Executive Director of Fidelity House since 1983. Dawn has also dedicated many years of service as a career nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital and now as a Professor in Nursing. Ed has truly embraced the mission of our club in “promoting the physical and social welfare of the youth of Arlington”.

All friends and family of Ed Woods and of the Club are invited to remember Tommy Yewcic’s legacy and celebrate this award presentation on Thursday February 8, 2024 at 6:00 at St Eulalia’s Parish Hall, 50 Ridge St, Winchester MA. Former Boston Celtic player and standout Boston College Basketball player Dana Barros will be our special guest speaker. For all of Ed’s accomplishments, and most importantly for all that he has given back to Arlington and the surrounding community, it is only fitting for The Touchdown Club of Arlington to present the Third Annual Tommy Yewcic Award to Ed Woods.
