2023 Tommy Yewcic Award Winner

The Touchdown Club of Arlington presented the 2023 Tommy Yewcic Service Award to Bob and Elena Bartholomew for their many years of dedicated service to the youth of Arlington.

Elena was instrumental in the formation of the girls softball program in Arlington and spent many years growing and guiding the program and ensuring its success. She has also coached countless girls through the years, teaching them the sport, the importance of teamwork and fundamentals needed to be successful in sports and life.

Bob fulfilled his lifelong dream of being a teacher and a coach, giving back to the town he loves. He began in 1972 as a substitute teacher, equipment manager and freshman hockey coach. From there he became a fulltime teacher and went on to coach girls hockey, boys hockey, girls volleyball, freshman softball, as well as countless camps and events over the many years for the youth of Arlington. A former softball coach said, “Mr. Barts, he can coach anything”.

Bob and Elena have served this town well and truly embrace the mission of the club “to promote the physical and social welfare of the youth of Arlington” and are worthy of this award in Tommy’s honor.
